The Interfraternity Council (IFC) is the governing body for the 13 men’s social fraternities at ÁñÁ«»ÆÊÓƵ. For over 150 years, fraternities have thrived in academics, leadership, athletics, and service. At KSU, our IFC community upholds this legacy by emphasizing scholastic achievement, leadership development, community service, and brotherhood.

The Interfraternity Council are committed to supporting undergraduate men in their personal growth, nurturing future leaders, and fostering meaningful relationships that last throughout their college years and beyond with the establishment of two endowed scholarships, The Interfraternity Council Scholarship and the Fraternal Excellence Scholarship.

  • Structured Recruitment Schedule

    The Interfraternity Council (IFC) has transitioned to a "Structured Recruitment" model. Below are the dates for the planned events. Anyone interested in joining an IFC organization must register for recruitment.

    To be considered for any fraternity within the IFC, registered members must meet the minimum GPA requirement of 2.5. This applies to high school (unweighted), transfer, and currently enrolled KSU students.

    2025 Fall Formal Recruitment Dates and Schedule

    • Sept 3rd - Meet the Interfraternity Council (IFC)
    • Sept 5th - Open House/Chapter Values
    • Sept 6-7th – Chapter Off-Campus Events
    • Sept 8-9th – Chapter On-Campus Events
    • Sept 10th – Chapter Event "INVITE ONLY"
    • Sept 11th – Chapter Interviews
    • Sept 12th - Bid Day
       

    Additional Information:

    • Fall Formal Recruitment: September 3rd-12th.
    • Registration Fee: $50.00. Registration opens: TBA
    • Structured Recruitment: The IFC organizes structured recruitment at the start of each Fall and Spring semester. This process allows men interested in joining a fraternity to meet and learn about each chapter.

    Important Notes:

    • Alcohol, women, and tobacco are not permitted at IFC chapter recruitment events.
    • Event times will be shared with individuals who have registered and are verified as meeting the minimum requirements for consideration.

      This is an important decision, so take the time to ensure you're making the best choice for yourself.
    • Ask Questions!
      Be sure to ask about financial obligations, time commitments, academic expectations, and the fraternity’s role on campus. While fraternities are getting to know you, it’s equally important for you to learn about them.
    • Use Your Best Judgment!
      Don’t let peer pressure or stereotypes influence your decision. Make sure you're choosing what's right for you and take full ownership of your decision-making process.

  • IFC recruitment takes place every semester. In the fall the council hosts a formal recruitment process, and in the spring, they hold an informal process. For more information please email ksu.ifc.vprecruitment@gmail.com.
  • Registration for recruitment is through . 
  • A Bid is an invitation extended by chapters to those whom they wish to have join their chapter. 

  • The Interfraternity Council (IFC) hosts informal recruitment each spring semester. During this time, chapters organize various events that Potential New Members (PNMs) can attend to learn more about each chapter before receiving or accepting a bid. Continuous Open Bidding (COB) that occurs in the spring is the informal recruitment process, where chapters invite PNMs to events to get to know each other. Bids may be extended up until the COB cut-off date, which is set by Fraternity & Sorority Life. For more information, please email ksu.ifc.vprecruitment@gmail.com.

  • If you do not receive a Bid from the chapter you were hoping to join, do not panic. There is always the next semester’s recruitment, and if you received any other Bids you may accept those.
  • Choosing which Bid to accept can be difficult, but it is important to reflect on your interactions with each chapter during their events and base your decision off of those. Who did you get along with best? Who did you feel the most comfortable with? Who did you feel at home with? These are all important questions to ask yourself.
  • If you accept a Bid and then wish to change to accept a different organization’s bid you must contact the IFC advisor (dfield43@kennesaw.edu). Once you have accepted a Bid you are not able to accept another Bid until the following academic semester.
  • After you accept a bid the IFC Executive Board will let you know the next steps for Bid Day. Many chapters also hold pinning ceremonies that they will reach out and tell you about the information for.
  • No, you should never feel pressured to accept a Bid, even if you got the Bid that you hoped for. You can choose to not accept any of the Bids, or if you accept and do not wish to continue, speak to the chapter or the Department of Fraternity and Sorority Life.
  • Recruitment updates are mainly posted on the  and the individual Instagram pages of each chapter. Each chapter will be posting their events and updates on their social media pages. You can also email ksu.ifc.vprecruitment@gmail.com if you have any questions. 
  • Yes, the KSU IFC Executive Board will hold different events throughout the semester, as well as before recruitment starts for you to meet all of the chapters.  
    The first night of recruitment is also Chapter Values where you will go around to all the chapter rooms to learn about each organization.  
  • Within the restrictions of your academic schedule, try to attend as many events for as many chapters as possible. The more interaction you have with each chapter the better. When you are attending events, push yourself to get to know as many members as you can from each chapter. These relationships started through your recruitment journey may result in life long friends and help grow a stronger community.
