Associate Dean Portfolio Descriptions

Senior Associate Dean (Strategy and Operations): Svetlana Peltsverger

  • Management of the day-to-day college operations and compliance
  • Monitoring scheduling and operational efficiency
  • Collection, analysis, and maintenance college/unit/program faculty and course data
  • College curriculum lead
  • Shared governance processes and development of operational policies and procedures
  • All initiatives and events not covered by other associate deans (C-Day, college meetings, etc.)

Associate Dean (Faculty Development and Assessment): Yiming Ji

  • Promotion and oversight of professional development opportunities for faculty and staff, including grant writing support
  • Mentorship of faculty in grant proposal development and submission
  • Oversight of graduate student support, including assistantships, and initiatives to enhance doctoral student success
  • Program assessment and continuous improvement efforts, including ABET accreditation and assurance of learning processes starting from the next ABET cycle

Associate Dean (Student Success): Lei Li

  • Accreditation and assessment activities (ABET, Assurance of Learning, QEP, IAE) - (the responsibility will be transferred to Associate Dean of Faculty Development and Assessment after fall 2025)
  • Lead for student support services (Strategic Advising Council Rep, supervision of advising director and tutoring center, organizing focus events, academic appeals, academic renewal, disciplinary sanctions, and academic integrity)
  • Enrollment management of undergraduate and graduate programs
  • Oversight of initiatives and activities related to orientation, progression, retention, and graduation of graduate and undergraduate students
  • Coordination of all student engagement initiatives and activities

Associate Dean (Research): Paola Spoletini

  • Research Administration: Oversee research compliance, Cayuse review, budgeting, research-related resources (e.g., space, GRAs), and alignment with university policies
  • Collaboration & Funding Engagement: Cultivate multidisciplinary research activities, connect with local and national funding agencies, and serve as the College’s liaison with the Office of the Vice President for Research
  • Research Planning & Reporting: Manage sponsored and non-sponsored research programs, maintain records, and prepare reports as required by the College and University
  • Research Community Building & Industry Engagement: Promote inclusive excellence, organize research-related events (e.g., speaker series, showcases), and foster industry relationships
